Budapest, Hungary // DAY 6

Hello everyone!

Today was a full day spent discovering the beautiful city of Budapest. I find it quite funny that Budapest is divided by the Danube River into two areas: Buda and Pest. Buda is more beautiful with lots of old, historical buildings and hills with greenery. Pest is more urban with big buildings and trams rushing past every 5 minutes (not the best when you're trying to doze off). We're staying at the Atlas Hotel in Pest. 

Our day began early in the morning with our tour guide, Georgia, showing us Heroes Square and explaining some interesting history behind the monuments and statues. I don't think I have ever expirenced such cold weather. I'm 143% sure if I cried,  my tears would freeze on my cheeks. We soon got used to it though, and by taking turns using our friends gloves, we made it out alright! 

We visited some other beautiful places by bus and walked around the castle area. 

Mr Bentley described himself as very "swag" in this picture. 

Even though we tease each other about this, we can't hide from the truth...we are tourists, and naturally we are drawn to all the postcards, "I HEART SLOVENIA" T-shirts and fridge magnets. We found chimney cakes which we bought just because we were freezing and we needed something to warm us up. We fell madly and head over heels in love with it. It's warm swirled pastry that has sugar all around it. Hot chocolate was also a must in the cold, wintery weather. 

Even Mrs Martens let her inner tourist out and did a fashion show for us in the bus  by walking down the aisle in her new beanie. 

Then we were off to the Tropicaruim mall to do our concert which consisted of our Secular Music set and some vibey African songs and modern songs done by our marimba girls. It was very successful and we had the biggest crowd we've ever had on the tour. There was lots of cameras pointed at us and even a few CDs sold! Success!  

After another rushed shopping extravaganza, we visited the Tropicaruim! This was a highlight for some and a lowlight for anyone who got bird droppings on their clothes. The place was gigantic and had all sorts of animals, birds, monkeys, snakes, crocodiles and plenty of fish.

After a very eventful day, we got time to relax in our hotel and enjoy yet another yummy supper.
